Bangladeshi woman Amber Huq joined as the Commissioner of Taskforce at the Paterson City Mayor’s office. She is the first-ever Bangladeshi woman to join any position like this in the City of Paterson and New Jersey as well. Paterson City Mayor Andrey Sayegh appointed her at this position for one year.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the City Mayor’s office where local people, community leaders, and city officials were present.
Amber Huq in her speech said, “I am thankful to my community people who supported me and who are beside me. I hope, in the days coming ahead, they’ll be with me. I am happy that I can work more for the community.”
Mayor Andrey Sayegh Said – ‘ This is a great & historic moment because as the first-ever Bangladeshi woman, Amber Huq joined in this position. The Bangladeshi community is bigger now and the Bangladeshi students are doing splendidly. I am thanking the community for sending your child to the school, for putting contribution in the business and economy and city’s expansion. More Bangladeshi women will be encouraged and come forward after seeing Amber Huq. ”
Commissioner Kabir Ahmed, Commissioner Emran Hasan, Commissioner Aji Alam, Commissioner Gilman Chowdhury, Former Councilman Akhteruzzaman, Chief of Staff at the Mayor’s office Cathleen M Long, Paterson Health & Human Services Director Oshin Castillo, Commissioner Fannia Santana, Community activist Hasina Happy, Community Activist Hussain Pathan were present at the ceremony.
