Bangladesh Embassy in Paris Celebrates 47th Victory Day

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris celebrated the Victory Day-2017 with great festivity and fervor on Friday, 16 December 2017 at the Embassy premises. The programme of the Day celebration started with the hoisting of the National flag by the Bangladesh Ambassador to France H.E. Mr. Kazi Imtiaz Hossain at the Chancery. The members of expatriate Bangladeshi community in France and Officials of the Mission attended the Ceremony. Recitation from the Holy Books of different religions, observance of one minute silence showing respect to all the martyrs of the glorious liberation war followed. The messages on the occasion sent by Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out before the audience.

The Victory day event was presided over by the local political leaders with the vibrant participation of the members of Bangladeshi community including, businessmen, cultural, media & sports personalities, professionals, women activists living in France. A good number of Freedom Fighters took part in the program and they shared and remembered their experiences with the participants and young generation in particular.

In his speech, the Ambassador paid rich tribute and gratitude to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his leadership and sacrifices for the Bengali nation. He also paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters, who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. The Ambassador stated about the clarion call by Hon’ble Prime Minister in materializing the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of building a Golden Bangladesh. He highlighted the contribution of the expatriate Bangladeshi people in our economy, making Bangladesh as one of the fastest growing developing countries in the world. He noted with appreciation that the remittances sent by the expatriates have been playing a significant role in our national development.

A special prayer session was held seeking Almighty Allah’s blessings for eternal peace of the soul of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the other martyrs and also for the peace and prosperity of the country, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The program ended with the serving of Bangladeshi food to the participants.
